There are two separate places, and they do different jobs. Your webmail is for reading and sending mail. The portal is where you manage the mailboxes and aliases on your own domain. Everything else on this page is a how-to.
Your inbox, folders, drafts and attachments. This is your everyday mail.

Incoming IMAP · mail.mailtoyou.org · port 993 · SSL
Outgoing SMTP · mail.mailtoyou.org · port 465 · SSL
Or 587 with STARTTLS if your network blocks 465.
Outlook and Apple Mail can use ActiveSync / Exchange for push mail, calendar and contacts together.
Hand out you+shopping@ and that mail lands in a shopping folder, created automatically. Nothing to configure — start using them whenever you like.
Settings → Mailbox Migration copies everything from your old provider over IMAP — folders and all. Free on every plan.
Still receiving at the old address? Fetch Mail pulls new messages in on a schedule, and lets you send as that address too.
Settings → Filtering for rules, → Forwarding to send copies elsewhere, and → Auto-Responder for out-of-office replies.
Every plan includes premium SpamExperts filtering, so most spam never reaches your inbox at all. If something you actually wanted was caught, you can review and release it yourself:

Domain plans
The customer portal is the easiest way to manage mailboxes and aliases — no waiting on us. You also get domain administrator access inside webmail if you’d rather do it there.
In the portal: open your domain, then Add mailbox. Enter the name, set a password, choose a storage limit.
Or in webmail: Settings → Domain Settings → Accounts → New.
Mailboxes and domain aliases are unlimited on every domain plan. Only your primary domain count (domains with their own mailboxes) and total pooled storage are capped — point as many extra domains at an existing one as you like.
In the portal: open your domain, then Add alias. An alias is just a name and a list of destinations — no mailbox, no password, no storage used.
Or in webmail: Settings → Domain Settings → Aliases → New.
Point billing@ at whoever handles invoices, fan team@ out to several people, or set a catch-all so nothing addressed to your domain ever bounces. Unlimited on every plan.
Settings → Domain Settings → Email Signing shows your domain’s DKIM selector and public key — the exact values to put in DNS.
Every domain gets its own selector. Don’t copy another domain’s.
Add these at your registrar or DNS host. We’ll send you the exact values for your domain, including your verification token and DKIM key, when your plan is set up.
First time doing this? Our domain setup guide walks through every record one at a time, with notes for Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Squarespace and Porkbun, and how to check it worked.
| Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|
| MX | @ | mx1.mxfilter.net · priority 10 |
| MX | @ | mx2.mxfilter.net · priority 10 |
| MX | @ | mx3.mxfilter.net · priority 20 |
| MX | @ | mx4.mxfilter.net · priority 20 |
| TXT | @ | v=spf1 include:_spf.workspace.org ~all |
| TXT | <your-selector>._domainkey | your DKIM public key — from Email Signing |
| TXT | workspace-verification | your verification token — we send this to you |
| TXT | _dmarc | v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:you@yourdomain.com |
Three things that trip people up:
1. Only ever have ONE SPF record. Two or more is invalid — receivers treat it as an error and your mail starts failing. If you already have an SPF record from another provider, merge the includes into a single line rather than adding a second.
2. Start DMARC at p=none. That monitors without rejecting anything. Once you’ve confirmed SPF and DKIM pass for a week or two, move to p=quarantine and then p=reject. Jumping straight to reject with a misconfigured record will bounce your own mail.
3. Remove your old provider’s records once you’ve migrated — old MX entries will keep pulling mail to a mailbox you’ve stopped reading.
Send us your domain before you switch and we’ll check the records for you — it takes us two minutes and saves a lot of bounced mail. Ask us to check.
600 emails per hour per domain on a domain plan (up to 14,400 a day), or 200 per hour on a personal mailbox. Counts mail to recipients outside your own domain — ample for correspondence and light transactional mail.
Running a legitimate business that needs more? Ask us — we review increases case by case once an account has a little history. Note this is not a route to bulk or marketing mail, which we don’t allow on any plan.
Upgrade whenever you like — we go up to 10 TB. You pay only the difference for the time left on your term, and nothing changes for you: same address, same mail, same settings, no downtime.
