What's included

More than an inbox

Every plan — personal or domain — comes with the whole suite. There is no "pro tier" holding your calendar hostage.

Works with every app

IMAP, POP3 and SMTP, so Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Gmail's app or anything else just works. ActiveSync and Exchange Web Services for Outlook users.

Calendar & contacts

Full CalDAV and CardDAV syncing across your phone, laptop and the web. Share calendars, manage tasks, keep everything in one place.

Cloud file storage

Your storage isn't just for mail. Upload files, share them with a link, and edit documents and spreadsheets online with OnlyOffice.

SpamExperts filtering, free

Premium SpamExperts filtering is included free on every plan — not an upsell, not a higher tier. Your mail passes through dedicated filtering servers before it reaches you, so spam, viruses, phishing and malware are stopped in their tracks. It has one of the lowest false-positive rates in the business, and if something you wanted does get caught you can release it from quarantine yourself.

2FA and app passwords

Protect your account with TOTP two-factor auth, then generate separate app passwords for each mail client you connect.

Resilient by design

We run our own backups against hardware failure — though your data remains your responsibility, so keep your own archive of anything critical. Moving in? Our migration wizard copies your old mailbox over IMAP.

Payment & privacy

Pay with a card, or don't tell us who you are

We take Stripe for cards and Apple / Google Pay, and we take cryptocurrency. Signing up needs an email address to reach you at and a payment — that's the whole list.

No legal name. No phone number. No SMS verification, no ID upload, no "please confirm your identity" email three weeks later. If you'd rather we knew as little about you as possible, pay in crypto and use a throwaway contact address — that's a completely normal way to buy from us, and it won't get your account flagged.

Card payments are processed by Stripe and we never see or store your card number. Crypto payments are handled by our payment processor at checkout.

Get started
  • Cards via StripeVisa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Your card details never touch our servers.
  • Cryptocurrency acceptedBitcoin, Monero and other major coins at checkout. No card, no bank, no paper trail on our side.
  • No phone number, everWe will never ask for an SMS code or a mobile number. Two-factor auth uses a TOTP app instead.
  • A pseudonym is fineCall yourself whatever you like on the account. We only need a working address to send renewal notices to.
  • We don't sell or share itNo data brokers, no ad networks, no analytics vendors getting a copy of your account details.

Switching over

Keep your old address working

You don't have to flip a switch and hope. Move your mail across, keep pulling from your old account, and forward whatever you like — all three work together.

Bring your old mail with you

The migration wizard logs into your current provider over IMAP and copies everything across — every folder, every message, structure intact. Works with Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, Fastmail or any standard IMAP host. Enter your old server details, click go, walk away.

Keep fetching from the old inbox

Not ready to tell everyone your new address? Fetch Mail checks your old accounts on a schedule and pulls new messages straight into MailToYou. One inbox, both addresses. Add your old SMTP details and you can reply as the old address from our webmail too.

Forward anything, anywhere

Unlimited forwarders and aliases on every plan. Send a copy to a colleague, route billing@ to whoever handles invoices, or set a catch-all so nothing addressed to your domain ever bounces. Send-as works from webmail, so replies go out from the right address.

Which one do you actually want?

Migration is a one-time copy — use it when you're moving in and want your history here. Fetch is ongoing — use it while you're still receiving mail at an old address you haven't retired yet. Forwarding sends mail back out to another address — use it to route mail to other people, or onward to another inbox.

Most people switching from Gmail run a migration first, then leave fetch enabled for a few months while they update their accounts. Stuck? Ask us and we'll tell you which to use — we'd rather spend ten minutes on it than have you lose mail.

One thing we'd rather say up front

We don't do bulk or marketing email. Not newsletters, not campaigns, not "but it's double opt-in". MailToYou is built for real personal and business correspondence, plus light transactional mail like signup confirmations and password resets.

That isn't us being difficult — it's how the inbox stays clean and our sending reputation stays good for everyone on the platform. If you need to send campaigns, use a dedicated provider like Mailchimp or Postmark alongside us. Read the full sending policy →

Why bother paying

Free email isn't free

If you aren't paying for your inbox, your inbox is the product. We'd rather just charge you a few dollars and leave your mail alone.

Your mail is yours. We don't scan it to build an advertising profile, we don't feed it to a recommendation engine, and we don't train AI models on it. Our entire business model is that you pay us a small amount each year and we run a good mail server.

  • Nothing reading over your shoulderNo ad profiling, no inbox scanning, no AI summaries you didn't ask for.
  • Storage that does double dutyYour gigabytes hold files as well as mail — share links, edit docs online, keep it all together.
  • Support from people who run mail serversTickets answered by humans who understand SPF records — not a chatbot reading a script.
  • Leave whenever you likeStandard IMAP means your mail is portable by definition. No lock-in, no export fee, no hostage-taking.

Questions

The things people ask

What's the difference between a personal plan and a domain plan?

A personal plan gives you one mailbox at our domain — yourname@mailtoyou.org. Nothing to buy, nothing to set up. It's for people who just want a good private inbox.

A domain plan lets you use an address at your own domain, like you@yourbusiness.com, with unlimited mailboxes for your family or team. You'll need to own the domain and point a couple of DNS records at us — we'll walk you through it.

Can I send marketing emails or newsletters?

No. We don't allow bulk or marketing mail of any kind, even if your list is fully opt-in. MailToYou is for genuine personal and business correspondence plus light transactional mail — signup confirmations, password resets, receipts.

Sending limits are 600 emails per hour per domain to outside recipients. If you're a legitimate sender bumping into that ceiling, open a ticket once your account has a little history and we'll review an increase case by case.

Do you keep backups of my mail?

We run our own backups to protect against hardware and infrastructure failure, and we'll always do our best to recover your data if something goes wrong on our side.

That said, please be clear on this: your data is your responsibility. Our backups are a safety net for our infrastructure — they are not a personal archiving service, and we can't guarantee recovery of individual messages you delete. If you have mail you genuinely cannot afford to lose, keep your own copy. Because we use standard IMAP, any mail client can download a full local archive.

What spam filtering do you use?

SpamExperts — the premium commercial filter — and it's included free on every plan, personal and domain alike. Plenty of hosts charge extra for this or reserve it for business tiers; we don't.

Inbound mail is scanned by dedicated filtering servers before it ever reaches your mailbox, catching spam, viruses, phishing and malware. SpamExperts has one of the lowest false-positive rates available, but nothing is perfect — so you get a quarantine you can check and release from yourself. Outbound mail passes through filtering relays too, which is what keeps our sending reputation clean for everyone.

Can I move my existing mail across?

Yes. The migration wizard connects to your current provider over IMAP and copies everything — folders and all — into your new mailbox. It works with Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud and any standard IMAP host. It's included free on Plus, Max and all domain plans.

Which apps can I use?

All of them, essentially. We support IMAP, POP3 and SMTP, so Apple Mail, Thunderbird, K-9, Outlook and the Gmail app all work. For Outlook and Apple Mail there's ActiveSync and Exchange Web Services for proper push mail, calendar and contact sync. Calendars and contacts also sync over CalDAV and CardDAV.

Domain plans include a free eM Client licence for up to three Windows or Mac machines.

What does "unlimited mailboxes" really mean?

Exactly what it says: on a domain plan you can create as many mailboxes and as many aliases or forwarders as you want. What's capped is the number of separate domains you host with us (3 on Starter, up to 25 on Scale) and your total storage, which is pooled across everything.

So fifty mailboxes on one domain is completely fine — they just share the plan's storage between them.

How can I pay, and how anonymous can I be?

We accept cards through Stripe (including Apple Pay and Google Pay) and we accept cryptocurrency. To open an account we need a contact email address and a payment — no legal name, no phone number, no ID.

If privacy is the point, pay in crypto and sign up with a throwaway contact address. That's a perfectly ordinary way to buy from us. Do note we're a mail host, not a shield: we still act on abuse reports and respond to valid legal process, and the no-bulk-mail rule applies to everyone regardless of how they paid.

What if I don't like it?

Tell us within 30 days of your first payment and we'll refund it in full. No exit interview, no retention offer, no dark patterns. Renewals aren't refundable, so cancel before your renewal date if you're moving on.

Ready for an inbox that leaves you alone?

Nine dollars a year for a private mailbox with calendar, contacts and file storage. Thirty-day refund if it isn't for you.
